About The Rumours
Though they've been together a fair while, The Rumours only got around to recording demos in the last few days of 2004. Soon after, they boarded the Northern Line and set about gigging in London's West End, to increasingly happy audiences.

After having 'Call On Me' included on a nationally-distributed radio magazine (QSheet), the band exchanged thoughtful looks and nodded in an appropriate manner.

Mr Gentry discovered the demos one evening and before long was steering the band into yet more London gigs, industry meetings and recording sessions with Liam Watson (The producer behind The White Stripes' 2003 smash album 'Elephant') at his world-famous Toe Rag Studios in London.

As the depth of their songwriting became apparent, The Rumours settled on the idea of recording a four-track EP in order to give people a chance to hear the strength and diversity of the music. The EP was recorded at The Exchange Studios in London, produced by Nick Southwood, and engineered by Mark Rankin. By the time the record was completed, it had evolved into a single, using the lead track 'That Much Better', accompanied by the swirling head-trip of a track 'In My Arms' as the B-side.

The Rumours are set to record a video for the single in the next few weeks and will be releasing it on limited edition 7" vinyl and downloads on 17 July 2006.

Tom
Tom Hewitt
Vocals/Guitar/Keyboards
Birthday: 15.06.86

Tom writes most of the songs, occasionally with Ed (below) and usually sings lead vocals. Though difficult to sing backing vocals live at the same time as the lead vocal, Tom sometimes sings some backing parts on the recordings - listen out for the 'wahoo's on 'That Much Better' - and then look around to see whether Ed has burst out laughing at him.

Writing influences for Tom include: Teenage Fanclub, The La's, The Beatles, The White Stripes, The Hollies, The Rolling Stones, Oasis...blah, blah...

His favourite guitar has to be his 12-string Rickenbacker, but he usually uses his Epiphone Les Paul because it's somewhat more conventional. Most of the time you will see Tom playing rhythm guitar or cooking.

Apart from being in The Rumours, Tom is in his second year studying Engineering at Cambridge.

Ed
Ed Hilliam
Vocals/Guitar
Birthday: 11.05.85

Ed plays lead guitar in the band and sings many backing vocal lines. Ed can easily be picked out as he's the tallest Rumour and the best at lead guitar playing.

Ed is in his second year at Nottingham studying German, ja.
